Turning a Complaint into a Win & Building Long-Term Revenue - February 4, 2025

From linen lessons to locking in partnerships—making every move count

Starting the Day with Leads & a First-Time Complaint
I kicked off the day by following up on leads and sending out quotes. One interaction stood out—a customer complained about a wrinkled linen. This was my first-ever linen complaint, and she requested a refund or credit of $60-$80. No problem. Even better, she preferred a credit since they have another event coming up—turning a complaint into a future booking! I should have asked more questions about the linen, as our linens aren’t pressed, which works fine for backyard events but may not be ideal for corporate clients. Lesson learned.

Venue Visit & Proposal for a Long-Term Partnership
Midday, I visited a local venue to put together a quote for a 20x40 setup. More importantly, I pitched the idea of an ongoing partnership. Locking in these types of relationships is key to making revenue more predictable.

Warehouse Work & A Late Shipment
I spent part of the afternoon organizing the warehouse while waiting on a shipment. Managed to get half the space looking good before I had to leave. The shipment didn’t arrive in time, but I got a notification that it was delivered—something to check on tomorrow.

Facebook Retargeting Ads Are Now Live
Had a final meeting with a marketing agency to launch our Facebook retargeting ads. They’re officially live, and I’ll need to get familiar with how they perform over the next few weeks.

Networking with NACE – A Strong Contender
In the evening, I attended a networking event with NACE. This was my second time, and both events have been great. Seriously considering joining—it seems like a solid organization.

Closing the Day with Follow-Ups & A Big Opportunity
Wrapped up the night by sending out more follow-ups. Right before my networking event, I received a big request that I’m excited to follow up on.

Overall, a productive day with a mix of learning moments, growth opportunities, and a potential new partnership. On to the next!
