The Cost of Convenience: Why Some Clients Pay Big for Weekend Rentals - March 15, 2025

A long drive, a quick setup, and a new venue connection—why every job counts in the rental business

Working on a Saturday… Ugh!

I try to avoid it, but when the customer is paying, I’m going! Today should have been easy—a simple 12x12 black dance floor setup, a solo job, and about an hour of work. The only catch? The job was 1.5 hours away in Macon, GA. I honestly didn’t think the customer would book after seeing the delivery fee (which cost more than the floor itself), but hey, they went for it!

While there, I found out that another rental company charges $1,000 just for weekend deliveries. That’s the level I’m trying to reach one day.

Another Venue Unlocked

The best part? I exchanged info with the venue managers, meaning I just unlocked a new venue for future gigs. That alone made the trip worth it. While I personally don’t love these long drives, I remind myself that one day, it won’t be me doing them. Some people enjoy driving—I’m just not one of them.

Light Admin Work to Wrap It Up

Once I got back home, I sent out some follow-up emails, texts, and quotes. Nothing too heavy, just keeping the momentum going. Gotta keep the pipeline full, even on a light day.

Closing Thoughts

It wasn’t the ideal way to spend a Saturday, but it was productive—got paid, made new connections, and kept things moving. Not a bad trade-off. Now, time to enjoy what’s left of the weekend.

Hope you’re getting some rest today! Let’s keep building. 🚀
