Speed Meets Friction: Growing Pains in Real Time - April 3, 2025

A strong day of follow-ups, warehouse wins, and a not-so-gentle reminder that quoting systems need to grow with the business

Hey Future Owner,

Following Up and Facing Forward

Started the day strong by following up with every contact I met at the NACE event on Tuesday. Great use of time—really. A few people already reached out for dance floors or asked about rental partnerships. That kind of momentum is what we like to see.

Quoting Is a Bottleneck

But with momentum comes friction. Calls and quote requests are picking up fast, and I’m noticing the lag. I can hear the disappointment when I tell a customer I’ll need time to put together their quote. And honestly, they’re not wrong—it should be faster. Especially for the simpler stuff. Larger jobs? Totally different story. But right now, our quoting process just isn’t set up for speed.

Warehouse Work and Workflow Gaps

Later in the day, I was back in the warehouse unloading tents I picked up yesterday and prepping for a busy Friday. Made some solid progress—logged some inventory and got the truck about 90% packed for tomorrow.

Still, I’m hitting a few snags. Our system for storing fittings made sense when we had barely any inventory. Now? Not so much. It's probably time to rethink how we organize parts so I’m not digging through bins and totes the night before a job.

Also tried using a pull sheet today to help with packing. But since I hadn’t logged all the items when I first built the quote, it only got me halfway there. These are the kinds of little cracks that become big ones if we don’t seal them soon.

Closing Thoughts

Every step forward is showing me exactly where we need to tighten up. Faster quoting, better inventory systems, smarter prep. It's a lot. But it’s also growth.
