Today was another quiet day on the job front, but I’m still finding ways to move the business forward. Here’s what went down:

Snow Day Struggles
No jobs today, and with another snow day keeping the kids at home, productivity was limited. Still, I’ve been hustling to reconnect with old clients, mostly through manual efforts. This process has highlighted the need to step up our email marketing game, which is something I plan to focus on soon.

Exploring Facebook Ads
I had a meeting with our soon-to-be Facebook marketing guy, who walked me through the campaigns he’s setting up for us. The initial focus will be on promoting our backyard package rentals.

To support this, I polished up the web pages for these packages. Since the 40-guest package is our most popular, I had only optimized that page for online wishlist submissions. Now, everything is a bit more consistent. Next on my list is the clear tent package page, which is getting a lot of engagement lately.

While I’m interested in delegating Facebook ads eventually, I want to learn the ropes first. Yes, all the business gurus talk about delegating, managing, and tracking, but here I am, intentionally in the weeds—and blogging about it, no less.

Meeting with Goodshuffle Pro
I also took a meeting with Goodshuffle Pro, our inventory management software provider. They’re rolling out a new dispatch tool for route planning, which looks promising. It’s not critical for us right now with just one vehicle, but I’ll be exploring it to build my skills for the future.

Incorporating AI Into Operations
AI has become a cornerstone of our operations, and I’m just scratching the surface of its potential.

  • Data Processing: I’ve been using ChatGPT to extract contact data from old FreshBooks invoices, saving me the time of reviewing each one manually.

  • Custom GPT for Emails: Earlier this year, I created a custom GPT with a warm and professional tone to refine emails and responses for client outreach. It’s now a critical tool in ensuring our communications are polished and effective.

The more I integrate AI, the more I see its potential to streamline our processes and enhance efficiency.

Looking Ahead
Even on slow days, the work behind the scenes keeps us moving forward. From sharpening our marketing strategies to embracing new tools, the goal remains the same: steady growth and continuous improvement.
