I spent most of today in my brain running laps. Sometimes the hardest work isn’t lifting a tent or stacking chairs—it’s wrestling with the people side of the business. I’m trying to figure out how to get my main guy back on the team, and it’s been a swirl of conversations, perspectives, and reflection.

The A-Player Dilemma
If you’ve ever run a small business, you know the truth: finding and keeping A-players is a constant battle. I’ve been in talks, listening to folks, trying to figure out if there’s a path forward with one of my key team members. Everyone keeps saying the same thing—it’s tough to keep your best people long-term. I’m really hoping I can turn this around, because the right people make all the difference.

Last-Minute Tent Job
Work-wise, today was light. Just one last-minute 20x20 pop-up tent rental that came in yesterday because (surprise!) there is rain in the forecast. Even with the slow schedule, I didn’t cave on rush fees. Honestly, I could’ve used the downtime to get the warehouse straightened up, so that time is just as valuable as a job. Well…not really!

Celebrating Wins Outside of Work
I wrapped up early today because life outside the business matters too. We had a birthday celebration on the books, and I wasn’t about to be late. Business can be consuming, but moments like this are what keep me grounded.
