September 19, 2025 – Daily Recap

The day I tried to out-hustle the universe (and lost a side mirror)

I woke up today knowing it was going to be a sprint, not a stroll. With the kids’ afterschool activity locked on the calendar as a non-negotiable, I had to operate like a NASCAR pit crew version of myself. Luckily, the truck was already loaded, so after school drop-off I hit the road to return a couple of kid’s tables I’d subrented. They were technically due back on Monday, but instead of making two separate trips, I extended the rental and bundled it into today’s route. Efficiency over perfection, right?

The Long-Distance Gamble
The first real job on deck was one I honestly didn’t think I’d land. A small table and chair drop-off for a reception—easy in theory, but it was over an hour away and required a Sunday pickup. I priced it high assuming it would scare them off, but nope, they booked it.

The upside: no setup, no real handholding, just a drop-and-go. The downside: highway miles always feel like they’re draining my soul and my gas tank at the same time. Still, quick money’s quick money.

Cocktail Cover Oops
Next, I linked up with my guy at the warehouse for a 20x20 setup with chairs and cocktail tables. Everything was running smoothly until I realized I’d left the cocktail table covers behind. Rookie mistake. And the worst part? I know exactly how I missed them. I beat myself up pretty bad about it!

Smooth String Lights… Until They Weren’t
The last stop was a string light install for a birthday party. Honestly, it was smooth sailing—until the client casually mentioned she forgot to add an extra table and linen. Since this one was close to home, I played the nice-guy card and offered to drop them off tomorrow. Free of charge!

And just when I thought I was in the clear, karma (or whatever) tapped me on the shoulder. As I was backing out of their driveway… crunch. Shattered my sideview mirror. Yep, nightmare fuel to wrap up the day.

Family First, Mirror Later
I wrapped up, sped home, took the world’s fastest shower, and got the kids to their event. The business chaos can wait until tomorrow, but that mirror situation? I’ll be staring that one down real soon—literally.

Until next time
