A Day in the Life of a Hustling Entrepreneur

Hey Future Owner,

A Day Full of Moving Pieces

January 27th was nonstop! It kicked off with the morning school drop-off, followed by a dash to the warehouse. I unloaded the truck from yesterday’s job and got everything prepped for today’s. The pace didn’t slow down from there.

Shipping Woes and Scrambling

I spent part of the day tracking down an expected shipment that seems to have gone MIA. Filing a claim with UPS wasn’t what I wanted to do, especially with a big job coming this Saturday. Since I’ll be out of town, I’m scrambling to make sure everything is in place. It’s definitely a stressor right now.

Lockout Lessons

At one point, I locked the keys in the car. $130 later, I was back on track. SMH, indeed.

Networking Could Have Gone Better

I managed to attend a city business association luncheon. These networking events are always draining for me, and being pressed for time didn’t help. I didn’t even get the chance to chat with the venue manager. A note for the future: I need to plan more space before and after these events to maximize the opportunity.

A Simple Job and Some Calculations

We had just one job lined up today, helping a repeat client downtown with cocktail tables and linens for a retirement party. It was my first time at this venue, as I missed the previous job there. I’ll calculate the profitability of this one after the pickup.

Big Wedding Decisions

I wrapped up the day by visiting a site for a May wedding. The couple wants a clear-top 20x40 tent, which we don’t currently have. I’m trying to steer them toward a regular white top since the time of year might not favor clear. But if they insist, it might be the perfect excuse to try high peaks from Central Tent, since Fred’s—our usual supplier—doesn’t make clear tops.

All in a Day’s Work

Between running errands, taking calls, and sending out quotes, it’s clear every minute counted today. Sometimes the best you can do is keep moving forward.

Here’s to smoother days ahead,

Ramon
