Road Miles & Revenue: A Day in the Event Rental Business - March 16, 2025

Landing Page Tweaks, Dance Floor Lessons & The Harsh Reality of Long-Distance Jobs

Tweaking the Landing Page

Started the day making adjustments to our 40-guest package landing page. It’s been a month since launching Facebook ads, and while traffic has doubled, inquiries haven’t followed suit. Made some changes—added more CTA buttons, tailored messaging for different customer mindsets, and used ChatGPT for insights. Now, it's a waiting game to see if these tweaks boost conversions.

The Drive Begins – Macon, GA Stop

First stop: picking up a 12x12 dance floor in Macon. Smooth drive, no missed exits (small wins, lol). But the numbers? Not great.

  • Total Revenue: $1,340.00

  • Job-related Costs: $851.00

  • Contribution Margin: $489.00 (36%)

That 95-mile (x4) drive killed profitability. Definitely not a job worth repeating unless pricing or logistics change. Lesson learned.

Second Stop – White Dance Floor Removal

First time working with a white dance floor! This was the install that took forever earlier in the week. Turns out, it wasn’t the rug—it was just a brand-new floor needing some breaking in. Lesson for next time: test it in the warehouse before installation. Removal was smooth, and the numbers looked much better:

  • Total Revenue: $1,580.00

  • Job-related Costs: $449.00

  • Contribution Margin: $1,131.00 (72%)

Now that’s more like it!

A Long Day Wrapped Up

After 7-8 hours on the road and on-site, I was done. Time to recharge and gear up for the next one. 🚗💨💤
