How a low-key Saturday turned into high-margin math and future floor plans

Hey Future Owner,

Weekend Work & Web Tweaks

Sometimes, the small stuff still moves the needle.

Today’s only task was a quick drop-off and pick-up of cocktail tables for a local school we’ve worked with multiple times. Since the event was nearby (less than 10 minutes from home), and the order fit in my personal car, I handled it myself. Yes, it was a Saturday. Yes, they needed me back at 8pm. And yes, I discounted it heavily because of the relationship.

The Numbers:

  • Total Revenue: $356.57

  • Job-related Costs: $43.00

  • Contribution Margin: $314.00 (88%)

What’s surprising? That margin. I calculated costs based on the truck, even though I used my car. Had I driven from the warehouse in the box truck, we’d be looking at a margin closer to 60%. Just goes to show how much efficiency (and proximity) matters.

New Landing Pages, New Leads?

I also fell down the website rabbit hole and resurfaced with two new landing pages: one for parquet floor rentals and one for checkered dance floors. Floor rentals tend to be high-margin, low-labor — typically just one person needed, with premium pricing for weekends or after-hours.

Now the test begins: which style gets more traction?

Closing Thoughts

Not every day is packed, but even light days can drive long-term wins — whether it’s nurturing a referral source or setting up a new revenue stream. Tiny tweaks. Big payoff.
