From TV rentals to chair markups—making room for demand and margins
Hey Future Owner,
Apparently I Rent TVs Now
Yep—this one started with a simple ask. Someone needed a TV rental, so I made it happen. Picked up a stand, researched options, bought the TV, updated the site. We're officially in the game.
I’ll build a proper landing page soon to catch search traffic. What stood out? It’s shockingly hard to find companies that make booking a TV rental easy. That might be a gap worth exploring.
Chair Prices Are Going Up
I also raised prices on our black and white padded chairs. To be honest, we have fewer than 50 white ones and zero black—so it made no sense to keep them priced lower.
They’re now $6 each, in line with our chestnut padded chairs (which started off as a test at that price). Bonus truth: I hate the white padded chairs with a passion. Add to that the tariff pressure on imports, and it’s clear—these chairs need to carry a premium.
Tracking Hours, Not Just Dollars
Spent some time with ChatGPT today trying to simplify and clean up our job profitability spreadsheet. While that project is still in the works, something useful came out of it: a spreadsheet to track crew hours.
Right now, we pay our guys a $100 minimum for the day—whether a job takes 3 hours or 5. To make smarter hiring decisions down the line, I need better data on how long jobs actually take. This is a step in that direction.
Closing Thoughts
Small pivots. Tiny improvements. All stacking up to build something stronger. More to come on the hiring front soon (hopefully).
Talk soon…
