Today was simple on paper: one pickup and some prep work. But mentally, I was already bracing myself for another disappointing margin check. These small table-and-chair orders usually look innocent… until the numbers slap me around. Thankfully, today wasn’t one of those days.

A Quick Pickup With a Big Upside
I went to pick up the tables and chairs I dropped off on Friday, expecting the standardized margin to be trash — as usual with small orders.

But to my surprise, the margin came in over 85%.

The reason was simple: the job was close. Like really close. Less than five miles away, maybe a 20-minute round trip. When driving doesn’t chew up half the revenue, everything suddenly looks a lot healthier. It was the kind of small win that makes you feel like maybe — just maybe — the numbers aren’t always out to get you.

Prep Mode Activated
Once that was done, the rest of the day shifted into prep mode. Loading gear, organizing, making sure everything was ready for tomorrow’s event. Not much admin, and incoming leads were pretty quiet, which honestly made it easier to focus on the physical side of the business.

Nothing flashy. Just the quiet grind that keeps things moving forward.
