The calm before the weekend storm — with spreadsheets and forklifts
Site Visits, Setup Plans, and a Truck Full of Panels
No rentals on the schedule Tuesday, but it didn’t feel like a day off. I kicked things off with a site visit for next week’s install. It’s located at a busy intersection, so I wanted to scout it early and figure out how we’re going to get in and out without making enemies in traffic.
After that, I headed to the warehouse to tackle our outdoor flooring. The original layout had panels that were too tall for our dolly and wouldn’t stand upright in the truck — like trying to load an 8ft table that doesn’t fold. I cut everything down into smaller, more manageable sections that still hold their strength, then got it all logged properly in our inventory system. Long overdue, but worth it.
April Financial Check-In
I also sat down to face the numbers. In short: April was soft.
We pulled in just over $15K from 12 events, and while we stayed profitable — barely — every metric was down compared to March. Net income came in at $87, which is… technically a win.
The full breakdown is already live as a standalone post if you want the gritty details, but the TL;DR: low volume, low conversion, and a reminder that this business isn’t always predictable.
Summit Chair Pickup & A Solid First Impression
Wednesday picked up the pace. I met with a new hire to help remove the Summit Chairs we delivered on Monday. It was a smooth job, and it gave us time to talk. First impressions are strong — seems like someone who’s ready to show up and learn.
Revenue: $1,143
Total Job Cost: $186
Profit: $957 (83.76%)
ARA Calculator Profit: $869.82 (76.16%)
Difference: -7.60%
OK margins. I was thinking they would be a little better given that this was for a business.
Busy Warehouse, More Chairs Incoming
Back at the warehouse, inquiries were constant. Between calls and emails, I never even got a chance to unload the truck from earlier. On top of that, we received a surprise delivery of new chairs (white resin) ahead of schedule — I unboxed those right away since they’re going out this weekend.
Didn’t get to everything, but we’re heading into the weekend better stocked and better prepped than before.
Until next time
