Slow Day, but Valuable Lessons

Tuesday, February 18, 2025, was pretty quiet. Just one last-minute inquiry for Friday, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. No new requests, and with the kids at home, my focus on the business took a hit.

Learning from a Lost Bid

I did, however, get some useful feedback from a planner about a large event we bid on. Turns out, we were $10k over budget and higher than the other bids. Yikes! The good news? Our rental items—tents, tables, and chairs—were priced just right. The real kicker was the cost of staffing at odd hours. I wanted to make sure the team was compensated fairly for those unconventional shifts. Even though we didn’t land the job, there’s a silver lining in knowing where the numbers didn’t line up.

Looking Ahead

Tomorrow’s a different story. It's packed with networking, which probably means the phones will start ringing off the hook—because that's just how it goes.
