Big setups, blazing sun, and a reminder that owners don’t clock out

The kids slept in this morning — it’s Friday, it’s summer, and honestly, I didn’t have the heart to rush them. It meant a slightly later start for me, but sometimes you just let the moment breathe.

Out the Door on Schedule

I got to the warehouse early to finish loading, and right on time, my guy showed up at 9:30. We finished packing the truck and hit the road by 10 a.m. Right on cue.

Luxury Backyard Vibes

First stop was for a 40-guest package at one of the nicest houses I’ve ever seen — poolside setup, the works. Fans, lights, linens, pop-up tent for food — they got nearly every add-on we offer except cocktail tables. Two full hours to set up and worth every minute.

Repeat Customer, Bigger Order

Next stop: a familiar address. Last time, it was just a tent. This time, they went full upgrade — cocktail tables, lights, linens, trash cans, the whole spread. It took about 2.5 hours, made longer by the brutal sun. We took plenty of breaks just to survive.

Quick Pickup Win

On the bright side, the next job was less than 5 minutes away — a pick-up from Wednesday’s drop-off. Pop-up tent, tables, and chairs were all ready. Fifteen minutes and we were gone. Here’s how that one shook out:

I’m testing a new system by running this data through ChatGPT. The numbers are slightly different than my spreadsheet version, but they’re way more dynamic — and so far, they match up pretty closely.

Last Stop, Long Drive

Final job was 60 minutes away — and yep, I booked it. No one else to blame. But thankfully, it was an open field setup where we could drive right up to the spot. That made things easier. We knocked out the 20x40 (two 20x20s) in about an hour, then drove another hour back to the warehouse. Nearly a 10-hour day. Not counting my own time, of course… because no one tracks the owner’s hours. Ha.

Until next time
