The Day of Almosts and Four Warehouse Trips

Today had potential — a promising lead, a manageable schedule, even a clear path to wrap early. But between a budget-shy client and a last-minute scramble for tables, it turned into one of those “pivot and pray” kind of days.

Morning Hustle: The One That Got Away
Started the day with admin work and the kind of last-minute lead that makes your heart beat a little faster: a clear top tent needed for tomorrow. Sent out a quote — it would’ve been a solid payday — and even though Saturday’s already slammed, I was ready to make it work. But budget woes struck again. Tried scaling her down to a smaller tent, then a white top, even threw in a lighting discount. Still no bite. Disappointing? Yep. But onward.

Afternoon Prep: The Calm Before the Chaos
Warehouse time was smooth. Got the truck packed and felt like I was wrapping up nicely. The kind of neat ending you don’t get often in this business.

Evening Curveball: The Table Tumble
Just as I thought I was done, I got a call — someone needed 20 tables ASAP. Their original vendor flaked, and honestly, sales have been soft this week, so I was game. Drove back to the warehouse to meet him. Then realized… no keys. So back home, then back to the warehouse. That’s four trips for this one order.

And because I didn’t have time to deliver, I did something I’ve never done: allowed a customer pickup. One look in his U-Haul and I remembered why I never do that. Stuff everywhere, nothing strapped, total chaos. I'm hoping everything comes back in one piece. If not, the invoice will speak for me. Margins on this one? Technically great. Emotionally? Rough.

Until next time
