Man Down, But Still in the Game

There’s a very specific kind of quiet that hits during the event rental slow season. It's not peaceful — it's eerie. Like the party's over and you’re left sweeping confetti off the floor alone. This week, that quiet came with a fever. I got hit with something brutal and suddenly, the sluggish inbox wasn’t the only thing not moving. But even with a pounding head and light calendar, there’s always something to do when you’re running a business. So here’s how the week’s slow spiral unfolded.

Tuesday: The Admin Shuffle

Tuesday started off deceptively productive. I was under the weather but not down yet, so I used the stillness to go into full admin gremlin mode. Built out landing pages like it was my side hustle. Sent thank you cards. Followed up with clients I haven’t heard from in a bit (probably because they’re also out of office — thanks, summer). It was one of those days where you throw all the marketing spaghetti at the wall and hope one piece sticks.

By afternoon, I made a pilgrimage to the warehouse. There’s still a May-sized mess hanging around, and I chipped away at it like a tired archaeologist. Progress is happening… but not fast enough to post a before-and-after just yet.

Wednesday: Fully Out of Office

Wednesday didn’t come to play. I was officially down. Zero emails answered. Calls? Straight to voicemail. If you tried to reach me, I was in the abyss, hugging a box of tissues and rethinking my immune system. There's a certain kind of surrender that happens when you physically can’t hustle — and I was there.

Until next time
