July 2025 – Monthly Recap
A slow month with big lessons

Wins of the Month
July didn’t have the volume of June, but the jobs that did come through were bigger and cleaner. We wrapped the month with 7 events — all using our own inventory — and no subrentals in sight. Revenue per event came in around $1,850, up from June’s ~$1,110.
The Chat Bot officially went live, giving customers a way to get quick answers without waiting for emails. Early signs are good, and I’ll share a deeper dive soon.
Biggest Challenges
Fixed costs didn’t care that I took a vacation mid-month. Rent, a ~$2K vehicle insurance payment, and higher supply costs combined to put us in the red for July — about a $1.9K net loss despite a healthy 75% gross margin.
July also marked the end of my lease arrangement where rent increased gradually each month. This was my largest rent payment yet — almost a third of total revenue. Bright spot: we’ve since agreed on another temporary deal. It’s still higher than I’d like for where we are, but far more manageable than it could’ve been.
Lessons Learned
July may be inherently slower, but timing a vacation matters. The last week of the month brought 23 of the 68 total event requests — more than a third of the month’s opportunities. All of which I mostly turned down because I was going to be out of town!
The sweet spot for a summer break seems to be the two weeks after July 4th, when things are quieter.
Even in low-volume months, mid-size jobs with clean margins keep the business moving.
Behind the Numbers
Revenue: ~$13K
Net Income: ~-$1.9K (negative from fixed costs and insurance spike)
Gross Margin: ~75%
Revenue per Event: ~$1,850
Top 3 Jobs: 34% of total revenue (~$4.4K)
Conversion Rate: ~10%
What’s Ahead
August’s revenue goal is $28K — double last year’s August. Even with a vacation already in the books, the aim is to push harder to make it happen. The focus: high-margin jobs, boosting the conversion rate back toward June’s levels, and letting the Chat Bot quietly handle its share of the workload.
What I’m Proud Of
Even with fewer jobs and a loss on paper (and in real life), July reinforced the importance of efficiency, timing, and knowing which levers to pull. The business model held — now it’s about turning up the volume in August.
