Networking, new chairs, and missed opportunities

Business Lunch, Light on the Networking
I thought the day would be quiet, so I registered last minute for a luncheon hosted by a local business association. The food was solid, and I got to hear the county commissioner speak — which was great, considering I didn’t even know what a county commissioner did until now. But I completely fumbled the opportunity. I showed up late, stepped out multiple times to take calls from customers and suppliers, and bolted as soon as it wrapped so I could respond to incoming quotes. I never even activated my new extravert persona. Total rookie move.

Prime Day, Rental-Edition
Back at the warehouse, I was juggling quote requests — some pretty detailed, others from last-minute clients who wanted everything for nothing. Somewhere in the middle of that, I got a pallet of goodies dropped off. Didn’t even unwrap it. I also got an Amazon Prime delivery — more white resin chairs. I officially have 150 of them now. Wild. I absolutely hate these things. The maintenance is brutal, I’m overpriced for the market, and yet…the requests keep coming. So who am I to say no?

A Fred’s Drop-In
My rep from Fred’s, Brian, stopped by and lent a hand moving the chairs. He’s been in my shoes and knows the rental world, so it’s always a great convo when we link up. Gave him the world’s quickest warehouse tour and then talked shop for a bit. These moments make the day go by smoother.

Truck’s Packed (Mostly)
Rounded out the day loading the truck for tomorrow’s two deliveries. Should be a light one — just have to juggle some personal logistics to make it all fit. Nothing new there.
