The day felt calm and manageable, the kind where nothing is rushing you along. I wasn’t chasing momentum or fighting fires. Just moving through things at a steady pace and letting the day be what it was.
Delayed Pickup, Finally Done
I started the day by knocking out the one main thing on the agenda: picking up the tables and chairs I was originally supposed to grab the day before. I’d pushed it back intentionally, and thankfully it ended up being painless. No customers to deal with, no complications — just in and out.
That said, the numbers were exactly what I expected. Between the small order size and the long drive, the margin was rough. Barely cracked 25%, which isn’t pretty, but also wasn’t surprising. It was one of those jobs you just check off and move on from, knowing it’s not the kind of work that moves the needle financially.
Resetting and Catching Up
After the pickup, I spent some time putting items away and doing a bit of admin work. Nothing major or strategic, just clearing small things that needed to get done. A few loose ends tied up, a few boxes checked.
Ending with Relationships
I wrapped up the day by heading to a networking event with a wedding group I’m part of. There weren’t any big takeaways or immediate wins that came out of it, and that was fine. The goal wasn’t to force anything.
It was more about showing up, staying visible, and continuing to strengthen relationships over time. Sometimes that’s all networking needs to be — consistent presence without pressure.
Until next time
