January 1, 2026 – Daily Recap

A slow start with a clear reset

Happy New Year. Today ended up being kind of a throwaway day, and honestly, I’m okay with that. Not every day needs to be a win, especially when the calendar just flipped.

A Day That Never Quite Got Going

I had one pickup scheduled today, and even that didn’t happen. The client reached out asking if we could push it later or just handle it tomorrow, and I said yes without hesitation. I already had something planned with the family, so it made sense to roll with it.

That one change, though, means tomorrow is shaping up to look a little different than I originally planned. Not bad — just different.

The rest of the day was mostly spent in my head. I had a lot of ideas bouncing around, things I wanted to work on, directions I could go. I even took a quick sneak peek at the month-end data, just to see how things wrapped up.

But when I really look back on the day, I can’t confidently say that anything meaningful got done. No real progress. No boxes checked. Just a lot of mental motion without much output.

And that happens.

I’m not stressing it (much). I’ll make it up tomorrow. Sometimes the reset isn’t about grinding through a holiday — it’s about acknowledging the pause, letting it be what it is, and coming back sharper the next day.

Until next time
