Full House, Full Day - April 15, 2025

A Family Affair, Tent Flips, and One Surprising Margin

The Crew You Have
With the regular crew unavailable, I rolled out with my dad and brother—reliable, if a little unorthodox. The truck was already halfway packed from a previous job, since I was flipping a couple of tents. We just had to add a few tables and chairs for a last-minute call.

Repeat Business and Rookie Mistakes
First stop: a 20x40 setup (two 20x20s) for a returning business client. Love those callback jobs. It took us about 1.5 hours—not great, not terrible. I’ll own my part in the delay: I parked the truck in probably the worst possible spot. Live and learn (then back the truck in next time).

Second Stop, Same Day Flip
The next call was also from a repeat client—needed chairs and tables on short notice. I waived the rush fee since they’re good people. Came back later to tear it all down the same day, since I’m tied up tomorrow.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Revenue: $809

  • Costs: $297

  • Contribution Margin: $512 (63%)

Honestly, I expected a stronger margin. But it’s such an easy job—direct truck access, no delays, super flexible. Probably should’ve held firm on that rush fee. Still, it’s the kind of work and relationship I want more of.

Warehouse Wrap-Up
We closed the day back at HQ, where my mom had been grinding it out solo, cleaning chairs since morning. Full family effort today. No one coasted.

Closing Thoughts
It wasn’t perfect. But it was productive. And personal. Family might not be trained—but they sure are committed. And that counts for something.

Catch you tomorrow—hopefully with a full crew and a better parking job.
