December 9, 2025 – Daily Recap

One job, a full brain, and a surprise win

I only had one job on the schedule today, but my mind was doing laps before I even left the house. Some days the work is light, but the mental load is… not. Today was one of those days.

The Tent Decision That Keeps Haunting Me
I found myself yet again spiraling down the rabbit hole of the next big tent purchase. I swear I do this every year — researching, comparing, plotting — only to decide I’m not ready. Secretly, I’d love to push this decision off just one more year. But now I might have a client pushing me closer to the edge, and I know that I need to be prepared. “If you stay ready you ain’t got to get ready”. Still, I’m stuck in the loop: wanting to leap but also very aware of what a leap it is.

A Weird Spike in Website Traffic
In the middle of everything, I checked my site analytics and nearly spit out my drink. Traffic had doubled… from “Unknown” locations. Nothing like a mysterious surge of visitors to make you question whether you’re about to be hacked. It definitely put me on edge. Running a business in 2025 means celebrating growth while also wondering if a botnet has you on its bingo card.

The Unexpected Win
Oddly enough, the biggest victory of the day had nothing to do with tents or deliveries. I realized customers might be struggling with “checkout” on my website, so I took matters into my own hands and added a Goodshuffle wishlist link directly into the navigation bar. It felt like a small tweak, but honestly? I’m claiming victory before any results roll in. Sometimes you just know when you did something right.

Shop Talk at the Warehouse
I rolled into the warehouse a little later than usual and immediately fell into a great conversation. Cedric from Hunter Tents stopped by, and we ended up talking shop for a good hour or two. It’s always refreshing to connect with someone who actually understands the weird, specific chaos of this industry. Who else do we talk to about this stuff, right? I see a lot of similarities in how we approach things…which I can’t say is always good, ha!

The One Job on the Agenda
The actual job of the day was simple: dropping off ten cocktail tables with covers for a repeat corporate client. Last-minute request, and yes — I waived the rush fee. It was painless, they’re loyal, and a couple hundred dollars in the bank never hurts. I’ll probably question this decision tomorrow when I look at the profitability, but today it felt like the right call.

Until next time
