Back on the road and finally feeling useful again

Today actually felt like work — the good kind. After a few quieter days, getting back into motion was exactly what my brain needed. Two stops, a little chaos, a little grime, and just enough revenue to feel like I was doing something meaningful again.

Picking Up the 20×20… Finally
The first stop was that 20×20 tent we set up last Wednesday. I’d been avoiding the pickup because I really didn’t want to wrestle a wet top. Today isn’t raining but…there was still condensation waiting for me.

And of course, wet vinyl plus dirty hands equals a mess. Folding that thing felt like a punishment I assigned myself. Just a reminder that these tops absolutely need to go in for a proper cleaning this year. No more negotiating with myself about that.

Margins landed just under 80%, which isn’t terrible. But honestly, with the back-and-forth this install required — the tricky spacing, the after-hours heating call, the whole dance — I’d love to see this job perform better on paper.

A Quick Cocktail Table Drop-Off
The second stop was simple: four cocktail tables to a bank. It was supposed to be a solo job, easy money. But we were already out, already loaded, so knocking it out today with my guy just made sense.

It wasn’t a big job — just a couple hundred bucks — but those couple hundred bucks help keep the lights on. And today, that was enough.

Until next time
