December 24, 2025 – Daily Recap

Obsessing over the small stuff

Today was one of those quiet days where I latched onto a single thing and just stayed there. No bouncing around, no big swings — just a very specific itch that needed scratching. Not the flashiest way to spend a day, but it felt necessary.

Cleaning Up What Was Hiding in Plain Sight

My main obsession today was fixing the package descriptions in my Goodshuffle item cards. I honestly don’t even know how I discovered how barebones they were. One minute I was clicking around, and the next I realized I’d been underselling my own packages with descriptions that barely did the job.

Once I noticed it, I couldn’t unsee it.

What I thought would be a quick cleanup turned into a longer project than expected. The hardest part wasn’t rewriting the copy — it was figuring out a format that actually made sense across all packages. What information matters? What’s repetitive? What helps someone understand value without overwhelming them?

It took a while to land on something that felt right, but once I did, it was clear the old versions weren’t cutting it. This is one of those unsexy backend improvements that doesn’t feel productive in the moment, but absolutely impacts conversions long-term.

A Light Peek at Inventory Performance

At some point in the day, I shifted gears and started looking at how my inventory performed this year. Nothing too structured — more of a curiosity-driven scan to see if anything jumped out.

So far, nothing has.

No obvious losers, no surprise heroes, no instant “why am I still carrying this?” moments. That’s not a bad thing, but it does mean there’s more work hiding under the surface. I might need to go category by category or even item by item to see what’s actually happening instead of relying on gut feel.

There’s a part of me that’s tempted to turn that into a deeper dive and publish the results if I do it properly. Even if it doesn’t change much for me, it could be useful for someone else trying to make sense of inventory decisions.

That was pretty much the day. One real task, one soft exploration, and a lot of mental bandwidth spent on details most people never see. Not glamorous, but forward is forward.

Until next time
