December 19, 2025 – Daily Recap

When plans wobble but the wheels stay on

I went into today a little uneasy. Everything on paper looked normal, but mentally I was juggling work, logistics, and being a dad with a kid who wasn’t quite back to 100%. If I wasn’t in this business, I probably would’ve kept him home—but events don’t pause for real life, so we pressed on.

Warehouse Mode, With a Side of Anxiety

The day started like any other: straight to the warehouse, load up, get moving. On the outside, business as usual. On the inside, I was on pins and needles. I had my phone close, already prepared for that school call that changes the entire day. It’s a weird headspace to be in—trying to stay locked in on work while part of your brain is on standby.

The Steps That Weren’t Needed

First stop was back at yesterday’s event site where we’d already set the stage and dance floor. Today’s task was simple: install the stage steps and move on. Or so I thought.

We unload, get ready—and suddenly they don’t need the steps. At all.

After the initial “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” moment, reality set in. Yes, I’d just spent almost $1,400 on stage steps and drove all the way out there (again) for nothing. But honestly? I’m glad I made the investment. We’ll need them again, and having repeat clients means flexibility matters more than ego. Plus, skipping that install bought us time for the next event. Long-term win.

The Driveway From Hell

Next up: a 20x30 tent with walls in someone’s backyard. Straightforward on paper. Then we arrived.

Super steep driveway. No chance the truck was making it up. That one was on me—I missed it during booking. Tough lesson, but not a fatal one. We adjusted, muscled through it, and got everything set without too much pain. Best part? No clients hovering or offering “helpful” directions.

A Quiet Win to End the Day

By this point, the day felt won. No school call. My kid was fine. Huge relief.

We wrapped things up by stopping at another company’s facility to grab two wood tables (I know… ugh), then headed back to pull, prep, and load everything needed for tomorrow’s events. Nothing flashy—just solid, necessary work.

Some days are about growth or big wins. Today was about handling curveballs, keeping people happy, and getting home knowing everything—and everyone—was okay.

Until next time
