December 10, 2025 – Daily Recap
Education day, minor chaos, and a surprisingly profitable pickup

I kicked off the morning with a rough start — the kind of start that makes you question your own adulting skills. I drove straight to the warehouse, mentally preparing for a day of tent education, only to realize…I’d forgotten my wallet. Who does that? So back home I went, humbled, before finally heading to Classic Tents and Events.
Anchoring 101 (and Me Getting “Verified”)
Classic was hosting an Essentials of Anchoring class, part of a growing and developing curriculum for becoming a certified tent installer. And your boy needs to be verified, of course. And it was in my backyard, so why not! It was four hours split between classroom time and outdoor demos — super casual, nothing intimidating. Did I learn anything groundbreaking? Honestly, probably not. But the reinforcement was solid.
I’ve been curious about earth anchors for a while, and the class nudged me closer to giving them a try. I’ve also been skeptical about ganging concrete blocks together, but the pros are totally fine with it. And a solid reminder to drive stakes straight into the ground. But I been sold on that since day one.
The best part, though, was the networking. Face time with installers, reps, and even finally meeting my Classic sales rep in person. I got an official facility tour too — funny considering I’m there enough to pick up and drop off gear. Overall, definitely a win.
A Simple Pickup With Surprisingly Good Margins
After class, I headed out for my one job of the day: picking up the cocktail tables I’d dropped off yesterday. Easy pickup — no client in sight, just load and go. And the best part? The margins actually held.
These simple, low-touch jobs usually fall below 50% margin, the kind that barely keep the lights on. But this one clocked in around 65%. The biggest cost was mileage — 32 miles round trip, twice — but the location worked in my favor. It was right off the highway, and it only took about 20 minutes each way. That kept the “window time” labor down and the profitability up.
One rough start, one educational detour, and one surprise win. Not a bad day at all.
Until next time
