Chasing Margins & Clearing Space - March 24, 2025

Small wins, tough lessons, and a pollen-covered reality check

Hey Future Owner,

Small Wins, Big Reminders

Today felt productive—one of those days where small tasks remind you how important consistency really is.

I started the morning getting out an email marketing campaign. Yesterday, I published two blog posts promoting our woodgrain garden chairs and white drum fans. Today, I sent those posts to our event professionals list. Honestly, this outreach has been sitting on my mental to-do list for way too long. I know I need to get more consistent—monthly at the very least. So, adding that to the schedule is officially on my radar.

Warehouse Wins: Clearing Space Feels Good

Next stop—our warehouse. I finally got the rest of our outdoor flooring organized and off the floor. Everything’s up on the racks where it belongs. Little moments like this? Big boost. There’s something satisfying about seeing open floor space again.

Pickup, Pollen, and Painful Margins

Later, I picked up a small order—tables and chairs. Easy drop-off, easy pickup... until I saw the pollen. (Yep, it’s that season.) Now I’ve got some cleaning ahead of me.

Here’s the breakdown on that order:

  • Total Revenue: $348.47

  • Job-related Costs: $171.00

  • Contribution Margin: $178.00 (51%)

Hated it! (In my best In Living Color voice.) These margins are not where they need to be. I’ll be revisiting what jobs like this are actually worth—because this isn’t it.

Closing it Out

I wrapped the day by following up on a few leads—keeping that pipeline moving. Overall, solid progress, but also a good reminder to tighten up the marketing rhythm and margin thresholds.
