Chairs, Chaos & Comebacks: A 5-Star Day in the Trenches - March 31, 2025

Quotes were flying, the phone was relentless, and the new chairs made their debut. Oh — and we’re back on the 5-star board

Hey Future Owner,

March Madness: Phones, Quotes & a 5-Star Comeback

Today felt like a record-breaker. The phones were nonstop, quotes flying out left and right. I tried to tally up the actual number in Goodshuffle, but hit a dead end — which led me to request a new feature. Fingers crossed they bite.

Even with the chaos, I kept a pulse on things. April’s looking strong with a bunch of jobs in the pipeline. May’s bringing in a lot of interest, but conversions are lagging a bit. Still, it’s early.

5-Star Drought Breaker

It’s been a minute since we got a new review, but we’re back on the board. A 5-star just came in from that condo job a few weeks ago. That brings us to 91 total 5-star reviews. Triple digits are within reach.

That said, I’m starting to suspect not all our reviews are being counted somewhere. Might need to dig into that or reach out to support.

3AM Hustle

I was up before 3am today and figured, why not knock out some backend cleanup? I tackled a few inventory issues in Goodshuffle and even dove into QuickBooks to categorize transactions.

Lesson learned: categorizing two weeks at a time is way less painful than a full month. That mid-month check-in made a difference. I’m aiming to lock in the 5th and 20th of each month for regular financial reviews. Month-end wrap-up should be ready by the weekend.

Chair Debut & A Quiet Win

Only job on the calendar today was a small pickup — tables and chairs — but it marked the first rental for our new woodgrain padded chairs. Really hoping they perform well this season.

Here’s how the numbers broke down:

  • Total Revenue: $356.76

  • Job Costs: $155.00

  • Contribution Margin: $202.00 (57.00%)

Not the strongest margin, but it was worth getting those chairs into circulation. Bonus: no face-to-face needed. Just a drop-off and pickup on the customer’s patio during business hours. And even better — they left a 5-star review. No written comment, but it counts.

This job was also in an affluent neighborhood, so there’s a chance our truck and branding made a few impressions.

Closing Thoughts

Today was a grind, but it’s one of those days that adds up to long-term momentum. New inventory moving, systems being tweaked, and the review count climbing again. We’re getting sharper, even on low sleep.
