High-margin pickups, warehouse chaos, and too many phone calls
Today felt like the classic small business mix of “easy win” meets “why is my brain fried?” It started with the kind of job that makes me want to frame the invoice and ended with me still staring at racks wondering how it all got there.
The One-Minute Job
This morning’s agenda was blessedly short: pick up some tables and chairs from a business literally one minute away. Solo job, minimal driving, no setup, no breakdown, no customer interaction — basically the dream.
When the dust settled, the job came in at a ridiculous 99.7% margin. That’s not just profit, that’s profit with sprinkles on top. An easy win all around.
Warehouse Grinding (and Grinding Halt)
Back at the warehouse, I decided it was time to tackle the chaos and get organized. You know how it goes: just when I’d get into a rhythm, the phone would ring or an email would ding. Leads were flying in today, which is the best kind of interruption, but man — it killed my flow.
I did squeeze in a meeting to hash out some marketing improvements: enhancing our contact form, sharpening the chatbot knowledge, and laying the groundwork for a new strategy. Somewhere in the middle of that chaos, I managed to get some inventory off the floor and onto racks. Progress, but barely visible.
Next thing I knew, the day was over, and it was time to pick up the kiddos. Classic.
Until next time
