August 26, 2025 – Daily Recap

Today was one of those days that had a little bit of everything — from big-ticket jobs to the kind of booking that makes me question humanity (who rents 12 chairs?). By the time I got back to the warehouse tonight, I felt like I’d lived three different days in one.

String Light Shuffle
We kicked off the morning by tearing down the lighting job we set up last Thursday. This was our first go at string lights on tank and pole bases, and honestly, I was pumped to see how it held up. Except… when I pulled up, the poles and bases weren’t where we left them. Turns out, a rain-heavy party had pushed everything under the 20x40 tent we set up last minute, so the lights had been moved closer in.

The silver lining? The job still came in at almost 80% margin. For a high-ticket setup, that’s solid. Plus, it officially launched us into the string light game — and now requests are pouring in. Not mad at it.

The $112 Chair Job
After unloading at the warehouse and knocking out some calls and emails, I had to grab… wait for it… 12 chairs from a daycare. Just 12. That’s it.

We netted $112 on the job at roughly 50% margin, which is technically “fine,” but I couldn’t help shaking my head. Smh. A full stop and load for twelve little chairs. Hey, I guess money’s money, but wow.

Keder Frame Practice
The day ended with a trek down south to get in a dry run for next week’s event. I’m teaming up with a friendly competitor to set up a keder frame, and let me tell you — I’m so glad we made time for this practice.

It gave us the confidence we needed to pull it off when the real job hits, and honestly, it felt good to collaborate instead of compete for a change. Chalk that up as a win.
