August 25, 2025 – Daily Recap

Today was one of those days that really shows the spectrum of this business. From wrestling with a monster job to breezing through a last-minute grand opening setup, I got the full “event rental rollercoaster.”

Starting Strong with the New Teammate
I kicked things off early with the new guy I onboarded last week. Huge difference between his first day and today — he was more confident, more willing to jump in, and ready to grind. That’s the kind of progress you like to see when you’re building a crew.

The Big Bear of a Job
First stop: taking down the big job we set up Friday. This one was no joke. It took three of us four hours to set up, and two of us (including the rookie) another four hours to break down. Nearly a $5k ticket, which sounds nice, and margins came in at around 80%.

But here’s the kicker: jobs like this eat your whole day, drain the crew, and keep you from stacking other work. High ticket? Yes. High stress? Also yes.

Tiny Tables, Tiny Margins
On the way back, we swung by another event to grab some cocktail tables. Talk about a contrast. Even with a $100 rush fee, the margin came in around 40%, barely touching $200 profit. The classic formula: simple job = simple payout.

Warehouse Shuffle & a Bonus Job
Once we got to the warehouse, it was a quick unload-and-reload situation. I had a grand opening celebration just a minute away, so I decided to knock it out today. Easy, quick, and it freed me up to shift tomorrow’s schedule around. Definitely the kind of flexibility I appreciate.

Closing Out with Admin Mode
By the time the fieldwork wrapped, the clock was already winding down. I finished the evening by catching up on quotes I couldn’t send earlier and doing the usual admin grind. Not glamorous, but necessary to keep the wheels turning.
