Blood, Sweat, and Tent Poles

The Day Started with a Tent Intervention
After dropping off the kids, I went straight to the warehouse like I actually have a job or something. My first mission: open up and stretch out a 20×20 tent that had been taken down wet almost three weeks ago. I braced myself for a moldy, mildewy nightmare, but to my surprise, it wasn’t that bad. Maybe that’s the perk of buying from a reputable manufacturer?

Of course, I was reminded why I don’t put up tents alone — it’s a ton of work. But it didn’t actually take too long, and the peace of mind from getting it dry, clean, and properly stored was worth the effort. Another mental to-do crossed off the list.

The Finger Incident
Next up: making string lights for a job next week. This is where things got… dramatic. While cutting 20-ft strands, my scissors apparently decided they wanted a taste of human flesh and leapt straight for my finger.

Okay, fine — I was just clumsy and nicked myself. There was blood, but not enough for an EMT-worthy call. Still, in that moment, I was sure I’d narrowly escaped a career-ending injury.

The Call Marathon
Aside from my near-death experience, the day was packed with calls: one with Gusto about payroll, another with Goodshuffle about barcoding, plus a handful with customers about upcoming events.

By the time I left the warehouse, it was almost 3 p.m. — a solid two hours later than planned. I’d intended to be home by 1 to break my fast, so yes, I felt every single minute of that delay.

Until next time
