April 29, 2025 - Daily Recap

Checklists, email blasts, and a hard look at the revenue board

There’s something oddly grounding about having a checklist. Today felt clearer — more focused — and reminded me that structure isn’t the enemy. I need more of this.

Email Marketing in Motion
At the top of the list today was finally launching an email marketing campaign. May bookings are still softer than I’d like, so I pulled together a list of folks we quoted or worked with from May to July 2024 and sent out a reminder to keep us in mind. Long overdue — and something I need to do more consistently.

Worked with ChatGPT to draft the copy and get it out the door. Here's how it performed on day one:

  • Sent: 207

  • Delivered: 99% (204 recipients)

  • Opened: 42% (86 recipients)

  • Clicked: 3% (7 recipients)

Snail Mail Gratitude
I also sent out a few thank-you mailers via snail mail to clients from recent events. I’ve got a few corporate clients I still need to follow up with — thinking about sending a mug or something useful. I just need to figure out the best (and least breakable) way to do that.

Numbers Talk with a Mentor
My friend and mentor Idi from Mr. MoonBounce gave me a push to update my projections and reflect on what’s actually changed this year. Here's how things look so far:

Month

2025 Goal

2025 Actual

2025 Difference

2024 Revenue

April

$30,000

$14,100

-$15,900

$4,700

May

$31,900

$16,000

I was well short of April’s stretch goal. For May, the goal is to at least double last year’s revenue. When he asked what I was doing differently, I broke it down: more proactive email marketing, a bigger list, Meta ads driving double the traffic to the site, and mailers to past clients.

Google Ads Back On
I flipped Google Ads back on. Planning to reassess in July. I feel good about how they were set up — the traffic is definitely coming in — but I know I need a higher level of management going forward. A proper dashboard showing ROAS and key metrics would go a long way.

New Tent, New Comparison
Stopped by the warehouse to unbox a new 15x15 high-peak tent from Fred’s. I overbooked myself for next weekend and needed a quick backup. I tried to upgrade the client to a 20x20 at no cost, but they didn’t have space. So this was the next best move.

Most of my other 15-wides are from Central, so this will be my first time testing one from Fred’s — a nice apples-to-apples opportunity. Thankfully, I already had the majority of the fittings, so it was a no-brainer. I logged it in Goodshuffle right away. No delays.

Closing Out with the Usual
The rest of the day was a blur of calls, quotes, and follow-ups. Nothing fancy — just doing the work.

Until next time
