Sick days, soft bookings, and a reminder that even light-duty days can move the needle

Some days remind you that running a business doesn’t pause for parenting. Today was one of those days — trying to juggle a sick kid and a to-do list that refuses to shrink. I didn’t get to everything, but I found a little progress where I could.

Sick Kid, Light Day
Had to dial things back today — my kid was home sick, so I stayed close and kept the workload light. I did make a quick Home Depot run and finally picked up stacking bins to organize all the ratchets and tent straps. Small task, big satisfaction.

Financials Beyond the P&L
Jumped on a webinar about understanding financial statements. I’ve always focused on the P&L, but it’s time to start paying attention to other areas. I’ll need to start capitalizing inventory soon and begin actively analyzing cash flow. Not glamorous, but necessary.

May is Looking Soft
May bookings are still lighter than I’d like, and I’ve been losing clients at a pace that’s starting to concern me. Leads are coming in — the interest is there — but conversions are slipping. I’m considering lowering delivery costs to help tip the scale, but I’ll give it some more thought.

Until next time
